# Cannot delete managed object

Hello, I have an issue with a managedObject : I can’t delete it, neither from the UI nor from a DELETE request on /inventory/managedObjects/xxx. I get a 422 :  
{  
“error”: “inventory/Invalid Data”,  
“message”: “Cannot delete managed object. : Cannot change binary metadata through inventory api.”,  
“info”: “[https://www.cumulocity.com/guides/reference-guide](https://www.cumulocity.com/guides/reference-guide)”  
}

However, I don’t find this error in the documentation… How should I delete my object ? Thanks for your time

Could it be that the ID you are providing is pointing to a binary and not to a managedObject?

If so try this endpoint: [Cumulocity - OpenAPI](https://cumulocity.com/api/core/#operation/deleteBinariesResource)

It was exactly that, why can’t I delete it from the UI directly ? It is listed in the software archives

Actually you should be able to delete it from UI: In Administration → Management → File Repository `<YourTenantURL>/apps/administration/index.html#/files`
