# Link between same device assigned to different groups

#### _Detailed explanation of the problem:_

Hi it’s Luca,  
we have the same device assigned to 2 different groups. If I select the device on the navigator menu of the Cockpit this happens:

Is this the intended behaviour?

yes, that is expected behavior, a device can be assigned to multiple groups.

Hello Nick,  
Okay, this is a bit confusing. I expected that even though I assigned the same device to different groups, I could select the device exclusively in one group at a time. In other words, I didn’t expect to see two ‘yellow selections’ but just one — the one I clicked on.

So what if I need to create different views based on the group?

Hi Luca,

there is currently no option to differentiate whether you have navigated to a specific device via group A or group B. The views that will be show will be the same in both cases as long as you are navigating to the same device.
