We’re excited to announce the release of Cumulocity Edge 2026!
This latest version brings new capabilities, security improvements, and important platform updates, continuing to make Edge a more powerful and flexible on-premise deployment option.
What’s New
This release incorporates enhancements and fixes from the latest Cumulocity 2026 release, along with key changes specific to Edge:
- Cumulocity Certificate Authority support: You can now use the Cumulocity Certificate Authority (CA) service when connecting Edge to your cloud tenant, simplifying secure onboarding.
- MQTT Service and Messaging Service enabled by default: Both services are now part of the default installation, giving every Edge deployment messaging capabilities out of the box.
- Manage company name and administrator email via the Edge CR: These settings can now be configured directly in the Edge custom resource, which acts as the single source of truth.
- Kubernetes 1.34 support: Edge now runs on Kubernetes 1.34.x. If you use the
c8yedgetooling, the upgrade is handled automatically.
Before You Upgrade
A few changes in this release may require action on your side:
- Increased resource requirements: Because MQTT Service and Messaging Service are now included by default, the minimum resource requirements have increased. Make sure your environment meets the updated Prerequisites before upgrading or deploying.
- External MongoDB no longer supported: All deployments now use the bundled MongoDB setup. Externally hosted MongoDB is no longer supported.
- Airgapped installs use offline packages: The registry sync tool for populating private registries has been removed. For airgapped environments, use the
c8yedgetool to create and install offline packages.
