The new year marks a new era for AIoT innovation. With the latest enhancements in Cumulocity, organizations can go beyond connectivity to turn intelligence into action—faster, smarter, and at scale. These updates bring together the power of AI and IoT to help businesses make data-driven decisions, automate operations, and unlock new opportunities for growth and differentiation.
From AI-assisted dashboards and analytics to next-generation device management and integration capabilities, Cumulocity continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible with AIoT.
Let’s dive in.
Application Enablement
Enhanced Global Time Context for Dashboards
New time configuration capabilities give users greater flexibility and consistency across dashboards:
- Live Mode – A dynamic rolling window that auto-refreshes with the latest data, using preset or custom relative ranges such as “now – 30 minutes.”
- History Mode – Fixed time windows for analyzing past trends, supporting both specific dates and relative ranges with grouping by intervals such as hourly or daily.
- Unified Global Sync – Link or unlink time, refresh, and aggregation settings across all dashboard widgets with a single click.
- Standardized Live Refresh – A consistent 5-second refresh interval ensures predictable updates.
- Saved Default Contexts – Store preferred time and refresh settings in dashboard configurations so users immediately see data in their preferred context.
Next-Gen Data Explorer and Graph Widgets (GA)
The Data Explorer and Data Point Graph widgets are now generally available, rebuilt on a modern Angular foundation for faster performance and improved usability:
- Refreshed, responsive interface for smoother navigation and faster visualizations.
- Customizable workspaces to save, share, and collaborate on data views.
- Enhanced legends and controls for greater clarity when analyzing large datasets.
These improvements make it easier to dive deep into your data, extract insights, and build dashboards that deliver meaningful context.
AI-Agent Manager – Public Preview
Build smarter AIoT applications with no-code AI orchestration. The AI-Agent Manager allows users to create, configure, and manage multiple AI agents—without writing a single line of code:
- No-Code Orchestration – Design and manage multi-agent workflows visually.
- Native Integration – Access inventory and telemetry data directly, or extend with MCP server tools.
- Model Flexibility – Choose from models such as GPT-4o, Claude, or Gemini, and customize agent logic, API access, and plugins.
- Dynamic Context & Sandbox Testing – Feed real-time data to agents and validate behaviors safely before deployment.
Digital Twin Manager: Fine-Grained Permissions
Security and governance advance with granular permission control in Digital Twin Manager (DTM):
- Granular Permission Control – Define how DTM assets are managed and secured via the new assets.permission.mode tenant option.
- Flexible Enforcement Levels – Choose from External, All, or None modes based on security requirements.
- Role-Based Action Control – Clearly defined CREATE, UPDATE, and ADMIN tiers ensure users have the right level of control.
Digital Twin Manager: Device-to-Asset Plugin
Simplify digital twin creation by converting devices into assets in a few clicks:
- Two-step workflow for batch conversion.
- Assign asset types or parent locations directly.
- Reduce repetitive manual configuration and accelerate modelling.
Digital Twin Manager: Unified Property Library
A new Property Library provides a centralized environment for managing asset properties across Cumulocity:
- Centralized Modeling – Define and manage properties for Devices, Alarms, Events, and more.
- Flexible Property Definitions – Apply rules and validation across multiple entities.
- Advanced Validation Rules – Use regex, help text, and custom error messages to ensure data consistency.
This unified approach streamlines property management and improves reliability across the Digital Twin ecosystem.
HTML Widget – Now Generally Available
The HTML widget has fully transitioned from AngularJS to Angular, bringing modern security and AI integration capabilities:
- Enhanced Security – Default HTML sanitization protects against XSS attacks.
- Advanced JavaScript Support – Create custom web components for complex use cases.
- Automatic Migration – Legacy AngularJS widgets migrate automatically.
- AI Chat Assistant – Built on AI-Agent Manager, this assistant helps generate and refine HTML widgets via natural language within the interface.
Continuous Developer Enablement
The Developer Codex has been updated to support migration to Web SDK v1023, including guidance on leveraging new APIs and features such as Global Time Context. These updates improve clarity for developers upgrading existing applications.
And Many More Small Improvements
Cumulocity continues to evolve based on customer feedback:
- New login option: skip SSO redirect for standard login workflows.
- Ongoing performance and UX enhancements across Web SDK components.
Data Management
We have been asked by a number of customers to improve the standard aggregations available, in response to these requests we are happy to announce the following improvements.
Additional Algorithms for Time Series Aggregations
The measurement series endpoint has been enhanced with a new query parameter, aggregation function. This new parameter supports multiple aggregation functions.
Additional Aggregation Intervals
In addition to the new aggregation query parameter, we have enhanced the available granularity of aggregations, significantly enhancing the usability of the aggregation capability. This is enabled with a new query parameter, aggregation interval.
AI & Analytics
Smart Rules (NEW) – Fine-Grained RBAC
The Smart Rules (NEW) plugin now supports fine-grained role-based access control (RBAC), allowing precise permission assignment for managing analytics rules:
- Dedicated READ and ADMIN roles control who can view, create, or modify smart rule instances.
Dynamic Hierarchy Detection in Analytics Builder
Analytics Builder now automatically detects changes in group and asset hierarchies, keeping models aligned with the current environment:
- Automatic Adaptation – Models continuously process data based on updated hierarchies.
- Failure Handling – Deleted or misconfigured devices or groups trigger a FAILED state for quick intervention.
- Resilient Operation – Models monitoring empty groups remain active and resume processing when new devices are added.
This also applies to Smart Rules (NEW), enhancing flexibility and reliability of AIoT analytics across Cumulocity applications.
